Agnes dreams of working in her aunt’s sweet shop, but behind the jars of peppermints and lemon sherbets lurks something sinister.

When Andrew notices suspicious activity in the shop where he buys his mints, he has no idea an old foe has followed him to London.

This was my first attempt at designing and producing my own cover. I didn’t make it easy for myself as first I have zero experience, second I had to vaguely match books one and two as they are a trilogy.

Here’s the original sweet shop photo I took locally in Chipping Norton. I feel I know every chip in the paint like the back of my hand.

The modern day pier in South Shields. In the story Andrew nearly drowns jumping off the 1890s pier. I was able to make a black and white version and sit it next to the sweet shop, making a bridge to the back of the book. Its also the picture on the back, purposely blurred. But I know its there.

The sack trolley I used on the back cover was photographed in the London Docklands Musuem when I was researching the book. it seemed to me to be the sort of cart Malik and the others would use to bring their dubious deliveries to the rear of the sweet shop…
